A tireless advocate for improving the lives of Colorado's children, Berman is a member of the Colorado State Board of Education from the 1st Congressional District, elected to a six-year term in 2008. Prior to serving on the State Board, Berman served eight years on the Denver Board of Education and four years as the Denver Public Schools board president. In addition to her work at the local school district and state levels, Berman has served on numerous not-for-profit boards and commissions in Colorado, and also spent 18 years of her professional life as program officer at the Denver-based Piton Foundation.
